City Ballet, accompanied by The City Ballet Orchestra, is proud to present three masterpieces choreographed by the great George Balanchine, founder of the New York City Ballet. Showing the breath of his choreographic achievements, the program includes: Apollo, with music by Igor Stravinsky; The Four Temperaments to a score by Paul Hindemith, and Rubies, with music by Igor Stravinsky. This Russian born genius is widely considered to be the greatest ballet choreographer of the 20th century and created over 300 ballets during his prolific career.Tickets
City Ballet of San Diego presents a fun and interactive 1-hour presentation of Camille Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals. This humorous introduction to a bevy of animals is a perfect way to introduce young children and their families to the world of ballet and music. Camille Saint-Saens composed “Carnival of the Animals” in 1886 and this whimsical and delightful work, showcasing various animals in a comical way, has become a favorite to young and old alike. Saint-Saens was a serious composer of his time, but “Carnival of the Animals” shows his fun-loving side. Children under the age of 2 don’t need a ticket if they sit on the lap of a paying adult. Fun activities begin in the lobby of the theater at 1:30pm.Tickets
